MolKraft Licence
Version 1.0 · 24 October 2026
This is the licence for the MolKraft software. It is a long document on purpose: it is the one place that says what you may and may not do with the software, the prediction models and the data tables, and what you own. The short version is first. The Terms of Service cover your account, plans, paying, the trial and refunds; the Privacy Policy says how we handle personal data. Where this Licence and the Terms differ about the software, this Licence prevails (Clause 26.1).
Versions: Version 1.0, 24 October 2026 (this version).
The short version
- MolKraft is licensed, not sold. Mehra Holdings keeps all rights in the software, the models and the data it ships.
- A licence gives named seats, each for one person, who may use MolKraft in up to three browsers. Nobody shares a seat, a login, a password or a licence key, and one seat is never used by several people, in turns or at once.
- Lab, campus and enterprise licences may be asked once a year, in writing, to confirm who holds their seats; we accept the written answer, make no visits and need no access to their systems.
- You own what you make: your drawings, structures, reactions, images, files and exports are yours, and you may publish and share them freely.
- Do not copy, extract, reverse-engineer, scrape or redistribute the software or its models, do not train AI on them, do not get around the licence checks, and do not build a competing product with them.
- Everything MolKraft predicts is an estimate, not a measurement; verify before you rely on it.
- The licence is governed by Indian law; consumers keep the protections of their own country's law.
1. About this Licence
1.1 This Licence is an agreement between you and Mehra Holdings, a partnership firm, of Mehra Compound, 402 Pitamber Lane, Mahim West, Mumbai 400 016, Maharashtra, India, GSTIN 27AAAFM4270A1ZS ("Mehra Holdings", "we", "us"). It governs your use of the MolKraft software described in Clause 2, whether you use it free, on a trial, in the beta or on a paid plan.
1.2 You accept this Licence when you buy or activate a plan, when you first use a Seat, when you accept the Terms of Service (which include this Licence by reference), or when you otherwise use the Software after this Licence is published. When the app's agreement step names this Licence ("I am 18 or older and I accept the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy and the Licence"), ticking it is also acceptance [when the feature ships]. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
1.3 If you use MolKraft for a university, school, company or other organisation, you confirm that you may accept this Licence for it, and "you" then also means that organisation. When an organisation holds a licence, it is our customer and answers for its seat holders' compliance; each seat holder also accepts this Licence when they first use their seat.
1.4 You must be 18 or older to accept this Licence for yourself. A person under 18 may hold a Seat only on a Course or campus licence, and only under Clause 5.10: their institution has agreed in writing to this Licence for them, or a parent or lawful guardian has given verifiable consent. [when the feature ships] No such Seat is offered at the date of this version.
2. Words used in this Licence
- Software: the MolKraft application served at app.molkraft.com and any other address we name, including every update, together with the Models and the Data.
- Models: the prediction models MolKraft delivers to your browser, in any form and in any part (sealed or unsealed, in memory, in storage or in transit), including their parameters, weights, structure, encodings, vocabularies and the code that runs them. Today they include the NMR prediction models and the picture-to-structure model.
- Data: the reference tables, structure libraries, reagent and solvent lists, correlation tables, rules and other collections of information in the Software, other than Your Content and third-party data such as PubChem's.
- Protected Parts: the Models, the Data, the sealed files, the keys and permissions issued by the Licence Server, the licence marks, and any other part of the Software that is delivered under technical protection.
- Licence Server: our service behind app.molkraft.com that registers browsers, issues the permissions and short-lived keys the Models need, records deliveries and applies the checks in this Licence.
- Seat: the right of one named person, signed in with their own email address, to use the licensed features.
- Browser: one web-browser profile on one device, registered to a Seat with the Licence Server.
- Plan: one of the plans in Schedule 1, or a plan agreed in an Order Form.
- Order Form: a written order, quotation or agreement signed or confirmed by us for an organisation's licence.
- Site: one campus, laboratory or office location of one organisation.
- Your Content: the structures, drawings, reactions, schemes, projects, spectra, pictures, files and other material you create, open or import in MolKraft.
- Results: what the Software produces from Your Content: predictions, names, properties, spectra, images, reports, files and other output.
3. What we grant you
3.1 The grant. For the term of your Plan, and while you comply with this Licence, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Software through a web browser, for the number of Seats in your Plan, for the purposes your Plan allows, and only as this Licence permits.
3.2 Licensed, not sold. The Software, the Models and the Data are licensed to you, not sold. Copyright in the Software is held by Mukul Mehra and Mehra Holdings, and Mehra Holdings grants this Licence for both. They and our licensors keep every right, title and interest in the Software, the Models and the Data, including copyright, database rights, trade secrets, trade marks and all other intellectual property, in every country. Nothing in this Licence transfers any of those rights to you, and no licence is granted by implication: whatever this Licence does not expressly allow is reserved.
3.3 What "use" means. You may load the Software into your browser, let the app keep the copies of the Models and the Data that it places in that browser's storage for its own use, and run the licensed features there. Those copies remain ours and remain covered by this Licence.
3.4 Free features. Some features need no licence at all (today: search, the 3D view, the 2D editor, basic exports, the Reaction tab, the increment-rule NMR method and isotope patterns; the pricing page keeps the current list). Some of them may need a free MolKraft account. This Licence covers them too, except the Clauses that only make sense for licensed features.
3.5 One person per Seat. A Seat is personal to the person named on it. That person may use their Seat on any of their registered Browsers, including a laptop, a desktop and a home computer, as long as nobody else uses it.
4. Browsers, activation and the Licence Server
4.1 Three Browsers. Each Seat may register up to three Browsers at a time. A Browser that has not contacted the Licence Server for 30 days no longer counts towards the three, and its place is free for another Browser. When all three places are in use, you can replace your oldest Browser from the app.
4.2 Activation. The Models are delivered sealed to a registered Browser and are unlocked by a key that the Licence Server issues for a short period (today, 24 hours) and renews while the Browser is online and the licence is valid. The Software therefore needs an internet connection at least once a day to keep the Models running; between renewals it works offline. When a licence ends or is suspended or revoked, the Licence Server stops issuing keys, and the Models stop when the current key runs out, within 24 hours.
4.3 Genuine software only. The licensed features work only in a copy of the Software served by us, in a Browser registered with the Licence Server, with a key the Licence Server issued for that Browser. A copy obtained any other way, a key obtained any other way, or a copy altered in any way, is not licensed.
4.4 What the Licence Server records. To run your licence the Licence Server keeps the records the Privacy Policy lists (section 3b): your Seat, your Browsers' labels, model deliveries and unlocks, prediction counts and the links between licence marks and licences. It never receives your structures, pictures or Results. (Clause 16.3 describes the one report it may receive about chemistry when that check ships: the name of a public control-list entry that a drawing or scheme matched, never the drawing.)
4.5 Internet, browser and device. You provide the computer, browser and internet connection. The supported browsers and devices are at molkraft.com/requirements. The Software may stop working in an unsupported or outdated browser.
5. Plans
The features, limits and prices of each Plan are on the pricing page at molkraft.com/pricing on the day you buy, and the feature list of a paid Plan does not shrink during your paid term. Schedule 1 sets out the terms of each Plan. In summary:
5.1 Academic. One Seat, for one person with a current university or college email address, for study, teaching and non-commercial research only. No commercial use. If you graduate during a licence year you keep the licence until that year ends.
5.2 Course. Seats for the students and teachers of one course or class at one institution, for the term stated in the licence, for study and teaching only. The institution assigns the Seats and may reassign a Seat when a student leaves the course. No commercial use.
5.3 Professional. One Seat, for one person, for any lawful purpose including commercial work.
5.4 Lab. Up to ten Seats for named people at one organisation at a single Site, including commercial work. Every Seat must be held under an email address on the organisation's own domain; addresses at free webmail services do not qualify. Seats move under Clause 6.2.
5.5 Campus. Seats for the students and staff of a school, college or university, as agreed in an Order Form that names the organisation, the Sites, the number of Seats, the courses or departments covered and the end date. No commercial use unless the Order Form says so.
5.6 Trial. One Seat, free, for 14 days, with the full product, for evaluation only: one trial per person, per email address and per Browser. No commercial use. The trial ends by itself.
5.7 Enterprise. A licence for a company or other organisation under an Order Form, which sets its Seats, Sites, term, purposes and price. Where an Order Form and this Licence differ, the Order Form prevails (Clause 26.1).
5.8 Beta. Free, by invitation, personal, non-commercial, for testing; it may be shortened, renewed or ended by us at any time. Section 8 of the Terms applies.
5.9 The right Plan. You must use the Software only for the purposes your Plan allows. Commercial work on an Academic, Course, campus, trial or beta licence is a breach. If we find you are on the wrong Plan we may move you to the right one and charge the difference, as the Terms say.
5.10 Seats for people under 18 (Course and campus licences only). [when the feature ships]
(a) Who may hold one. A school, college or university holding a Course or campus licence may give a Seat to a student under 18 if, before the Seat is used, either the institution has agreed in writing with us to this Licence, the Terms and the Privacy Policy on the student's behalf, or a parent or lawful guardian has given consent that we can verify, as section 9 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 requires. The institution tells us which Seats are held by people under 18 and keeps the record of each agreement or consent, and gives it to us when we ask. A parent or guardian, or the institution, may withdraw the consent at any time by writing to us; the Seat then ends.
(b) What the student accepts. The student does not tick "I am 18 or older". The app shows such a Seat a step that says their institution or parent or guardian has agreed for them, and asks them to confirm that they will follow the rules; the institution answers for the Seat under Clause 1.3.
(c) What we collect for such a Seat. Only what a Seat needs to run: the email address the institution gives us (an institutional address, not a personal one, wherever the institution has them), a display name if any, the Seat's Browser labels and model deliveries, and the records that the licence marks need (Clause 12.2). Nothing more.
(d) No tracking, no monitoring, no advertising. We do not track a child's use of the Software, do not monitor their behaviour, and do not send them marketing or advertising of any kind, as section 9 of that Act requires. In particular:
- Fair-use limits (Clause 9.1) still apply, because they protect the Models, but for a Seat held by a person under 18 they are applied in the browser only: the app counts predictions on the device and pauses at the limit, and no prediction count is sent to the Licence Server for that Seat. The seat-wide daily limit in the Terms is not applied to such a Seat, and the institution's own limits apply as it chooses.
- The automation check (Clause 9.3) sends no report to the Licence Server from such a Seat. If the app sees signs of a program operating it, it pauses the Models in that browser and shows the notice; the institution's administrator, or we at the institution's request, clears the pause. Nothing about how the student worked is recorded by us.
- The misuse check (Clause 16.3) applies to every Seat, because of the harm it guards against. For a Seat held by a person under 18, the report names the Seat and the matched list entry, as for any Seat, and we take the review up with the institution's administrator, not the student; a report to law enforcement about a child is made, if at all, through the institution and as the law for children requires.
(e) Everything else in this Licence applies to such a Seat as to any other, including Clauses 10, 11 and 15; the institution is responsible for the student's compliance.
6. Transfers and Seat changes
6.1 No transfer of a licence. You may not sell, give, assign, rent, lease, lend or otherwise transfer a licence, a Seat or a key to anyone else, with or without payment, except as Clauses 6.2 and 6.3 allow or with our written consent. A licence bought by one person is for that person; a licence bought by an organisation is for that organisation.
6.2 Moving a Seat within an organisation. A Lab, Course, campus or enterprise licence may move a Seat from one person to another within the same organisation at a single Site: for a Lab licence, once every 60 days per Seat and at most twice in a licence year, by writing to us (we make the move); for Course, campus and enterprise licences, as the licence or the Order Form says. The person who gives up the Seat loses the licensed features at the next check. A Seat may not be moved to another Site or another organisation.
6.3 Successors. If your organisation merges with or is taken over by another, write to us; we will move the licence to the successor for the rest of its term, for the same Sites and Seats, unless the successor is barred from using the Software by Clause 16.
6.4 No second-hand market. Because the Software is delivered through our Licence Server and never as a copy you hold, there is no copy of it to resell, and no resale of a MolKraft licence, Seat, key or account is permitted.
7. Your Content and your Results: you own them
7.1 Ownership. You own Your Content and the Results MolKraft produces from it. We claim no rights in them and do not receive them: they stay in your browser unless you choose a function that sends them somewhere (today, PubChem lookups, and the links to other chemistry databases that you choose to open) or send them to us yourself. A setting in the app keeps your structures on your device and stops the PubChem lookups that would send them.
7.2 Sharing. You may use, publish, share, print, license and sell Your Content and your Results freely, for any lawful purpose your Plan allows: in papers, theses, reports, patents, teaching material, presentations, websites and books. We ask, but do not require, that you cite MolKraft and the version used, because a Result depends on the version that made it.
7.3 The hidden software tag. Pictures, PDFs and structure files that MolKraft exports may carry a small, invisible note in the file saying that it was made with MolKraft; not every file format can hold one. The note identifies the software, not you. Where a file carries the note, you must not remove, alter or forge it so as to disguise that the file was made with MolKraft; and you must not add such a note to a file that MolKraft did not make.
7.4 The visible mark. Pictures, PDFs and reports exported from MolKraft carry a small visible MolKraft mark ("Made with MolKraft"). On Professional and Lab licences you may switch it off. On Academic and Course licences you may switch it off for journal figures and plain molecule pictures only. On trial, beta and free use it stays on. A campus or enterprise licence follows the Plan its Order Form names; if the Order Form names none, the mark stays on. Data files (structure files, spectra, tables, projects) carry no visible mark. Where your Plan does not let you switch the mark off, you must not remove or hide it.
7.5 Your responsibility. You are responsible for Your Content: for having the right to use what you import (for example a spectrum file or a picture from a paper), and for every use you make of a Result.
8. Updates, versions and support
8.1 A current app. MolKraft is served from our site, so you always run the current version; there is no older version to keep or install. We may update the Software and the Models at any time, including to add, change, pause or remove a feature, to fix an error, to retire a Model version or to improve protection. Updates are covered by this Licence.
8.2 Paid terms. We will not remove a core feature of a paid Plan during a paid term without offering you a fair remedy, as the Terms say. A change in a Model may change a Result for the same structure; this is not a defect.
8.3 Support. Support is by email at hello@molkraft.com, during our working hours in India, in English, for the licensed features on a supported browser and device. We aim to answer within two working days; we do not promise a fix by a date. An Order Form may set other terms. Support does not include your computer, your network, your browser settings, or interpreting chemistry.
8.4 Release notes. What's new, in the app, lists the changes in each release, and is the place to look before you report a problem. A prediction error we have verified and not yet fixed is listed there as a known issue (Clause 22.3).
9. Fair use and automated use
9.1 Interactive use. The Models are licensed for interactive work by a person, one structure or picture at a time. Fair-use limits exist to stop the Models being extracted by mass querying, not to limit ordinary work; they are set above the pace of a person working quickly. The current limits, what happens when one is reached, and how to ask for a higher limit are in section 9 of the Terms ("Fair-use limits"). Those limits form part of this Licence.
9.2 Bots and AI agents. The Software must be operated by a person. You must not use a bot, a script, a browser-automation tool, a headless browser or an AI agent to open, operate or navigate the Software, to submit structures or pictures to the Models, or to read, copy or collect Results, except assistive technology you use because of a disability, a feature of MolKraft itself, or something we have agreed in writing beforehand. Section 9 of the Terms ("Automated agents and AI tools") gives the full rule and applies here. What you do with Results you have exported, with any tool, is up to you, within Clause 10.
9.3 Suspected automation. If the Software sees signs that a program rather than a person is operating it, it reports that to the Licence Server, which may ask you to confirm that a person is present and, if that check finds no person or the signs continue, pause the Models in that Browser, and in a Browser added to the Seat while the pause lasts, until a member of our staff has looked; the Terms say how a wrong pause is cleared, and the Privacy Policy says what is sent. A pause is not a decision about your licence; only a person can suspend or end one.
9.4 Counts, not content. The app tells the Licence Server how many structures were predicted: a count only. It never sends a structure or a Result. No count and no automation report is sent for a Seat held by a person under 18 (Clause 5.10(d)).
9.5 Our own people. The limits and the rules on automated use in this Clause 9 bind the people and organisations who use MolKraft under this Licence. They do not bind our partners, staff and contractors when they run, test, support or look after MolKraft for Mehra Holdings.
9.6 Changes to the fair-use policy. We may revise the fair-use policy (the limits in Clause 9.1 and the rules on automated use in Clause 9.2). A change that lowers a limit or tightens a rule takes effect 30 days after we have given notice to all users, by email to account holders and by a notice in the app and on molkraft.com, unless the law requires it sooner; a change that raises a limit may take effect at once. For these changes the 30 days stand in for the 14 days in Clause 27.2, which otherwise applies.
9.7 Repeated breach. Reaching a limit is not a breach: the Software applies the limits, and a count is never on its own a reason to act. Working around a limit, or breaking Clause 9.2, is a breach. The first time, we warn you by email, give the reason and let you explain within 14 days; if the same breach continues, or is repeated within 12 months of the warning, we may suspend the licence, and may end it under Clause 23, after a person has looked at the evidence and told you why. Repeated breach is misuse of the Software, so a licence suspended or ended for it is not refunded, and the time lost to the suspension is not added back, unless we were wrong (Clause 23.1). A knowing or reckless breach of Clause 10 or 11 needs no warning first: Clause 23.2 applies at once.
10. What you must not do: copying, extraction and competing use
10.1 Except where the law gives you a right that we cannot exclude (Clause 10.2), you must not do, attempt, or help or allow anyone else to do, any of the following:
(a) copy the Software, the Models or the Data, in whole or in part, in any form, other than the copies the app itself places in your registered Browser (Clause 3.3), and keep no copy after your licence ends;
(b) decompile, disassemble, decrypt, unseal or reverse-engineer the Software or any Protected Part, or try to discover its source code, structure, parameters, weights or inner workings, whether from browser memory, storage, developer tools, network traffic, timing, error messages or anything else;
(c) extract or reconstruct the Models or the Data, or any part of them, including by dumping memory, intercepting delivery, recording keys, or collecting Results in bulk to rebuild, approximate or distil what a Model does;
(d) scrape, crawl, mirror, bulk-export or harvest the Software, the Data or Results, or use the Software beyond the fair-use limits in Clause 9;
(e) train, tune, calibrate, distil, benchmark for development or improve any AI model, lookup table, dataset or product using the Software, the Models, the Data or Results obtained from them, or let anyone else do so;
(f) build, train or operate a competing product or service using the Software, the Models, the Data, Results or any knowledge of how they work obtained in breach of this Licence; "competing" means a product or service that predicts, names, draws or analyses chemical structures in a way that does what MolKraft does;
(g) circumvent, disable, remove, weaken or test the limits of any technical protection in the Software: the sealing of the Models, the keys and permissions, Browser registration, licence marks, usage limits, the pause and lock mechanisms, the hidden software tag, or any other measure that controls access to or use of a Protected Part; this may also be an offence or a civil wrong under the anti-circumvention provisions of India's Copyright Act, 1957, the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act and the European Union's copyright directives;
(h) remove, hide, alter or forge any copyright, licence, trade-mark, attribution or third-party notice, any licence mark, or the hidden software tag (Clause 7.3);
(i) modify, adapt, translate or make derivative works of the Software, the Models or the Data, or combine or embed any of them in other software, a website, a notebook, a pipeline or a service;
(j) separate the parts: use a Model, the Data or any other Protected Part on its own, outside the Software, in another program, or on another computer or server;
(k) distribute, publish, upload, post, sell, rent, lease, lend, sublicense, host or otherwise make available the Software, the Models, the Data, a key, a permission or any Protected Part to anyone else, by any means, including on a file-sharing site, a code repository, a model hub, a cloud drive or a private network;
(l) provide the Software to others as a service: run it on their behalf, offer it for time-sharing, as a service bureau, through a shared screen, a remote-desktop session or a kiosk, or sell access to it;
(m) use the Software through another person's Seat, or let anyone use yours (Clause 11);
(n) present a Result as measured, verified or certified data (Clause 15), or use the MolKraft name or logo without our written consent beyond saying that you use MolKraft;
(o) use the Software unlawfully or in breach of Clause 16 (lawful use, export control and illegal chemistry).
10.2 Rights the law gives you. Some countries give users of software a right that no licence can take away: for example, under the European Union's software directive and the laws of India, to study and test how a program works while using it as licensed, or to decompile the parts needed to make it work with other software when that information is not otherwise available. Nothing in this Licence takes those rights away. If you believe one applies to something you want to do, write to us first at hello@molkraft.com; we will tell you what information we can give instead, and you must keep anything you learn confidential and use it only for the purpose the law allows.
10.3 Why these rules are strict. The Models are the product of years of work and are the main thing a paid Plan buys. A single leaked copy harms every honest user. So a knowing or reckless breach of this Clause 10 or Clause 11 is a material breach that ends your licence (Clause 23) and may cause us harm that money cannot repair.
11. No sharing
11.1 A Seat is for one person. One named person, one Seat. You must not share your Seat, your login, your password, your sign-in codes, your registered Browsers or your keys with anyone, including a colleague, a student, a supervisor, a family member or an assistant; and you must not use anyone else's.
11.2 Not in turns, not at once. One Seat may not be used by several people in turns (for example a shared computer, a shared account, or a password passed around a group), nor by several people at the same time (for example through a remote-desktop session, a shared screen, a virtual machine or a shared browser profile). Each person who uses the licensed features needs their own Seat. A Lab, Course, campus or enterprise licence buys one Seat per person for that reason.
11.3 Not the software, not its parts. You must not share, send, post or make available the Software, the Models, the Data, a sealed file, a key, a permission, a licence identifier, an activation or any other Protected Part with anyone, or put any of them online, whether in public or in a private group.
11.4 Keep your sign-in safe. Keep your password and codes private, use a working email address, sign out on computers you do not control, and tell us at once at hello@molkraft.com if you think someone else is using your Seat. Everything done through your Seat is your responsibility unless it happened because of a security failure on our side.
11.5 How we check. The Licence Server sees how many Browsers a Seat has registered, when each was used and how many predictions each made (not for a Seat under Clause 5.10). Those records, never your chemistry, are what we use to notice sharing. The Privacy Policy describes them.
12. Technical protection and licence marks
12.1 Protection. The Software uses technical measures to protect the Models and the Data: sealed delivery, Browser registration, short-lived keys, usage limits and licence marks. You consent to their operation as part of using the Software, and you must not interfere with them (Clause 10.1(g)).
12.2 Licence marks. Each copy of a Model delivered to a Browser carries one or more hidden marks unique to the Seat it was delivered to, and so to its licence, designed to change a Result by no more than a negligible amount. If a copy of a Model, or any part or derivative of one, is found outside MolKraft, we may use the marks and our delivery logs to identify the licence it came from and rely on that in enforcing this Licence, in court and otherwise. You must not remove, alter or try to detect a mark.
12.3 Checks and refusals. The Licence Server may refuse a key, or pause a Browser for a while, when a licence has ended, been revoked or not been paid for after the grace period, when a Browser asks for keys far more often than normal use needs, or when we need to protect the Models; the app itself pauses a Model when a fair-use limit is reached (Clause 9.1). A refusal by the server is not itself a decision to end your licence; Clause 23 says how a licence is suspended or ended, and a person makes that decision.
13. Open-source parts and third-party data
13.1 What this Clause is. MolKraft is built partly with open-source software, fonts and data that their authors license to everyone under their own terms. This Clause is where we list them and give the notices those licences ask for; it is part of this Licence, and there is no separate open-source page to agree to.
13.2 Their licences prevail for their parts. Each open-source part is licensed to you by its authors under its own licence, not by us under this Licence. Nothing in this Licence limits the rights an open-source licence gives you in that part, and where this Licence and such a licence conflict about that part, that licence prevails for that part. Clause 10 applies to MolKraft's own work (the Software as a whole, the Models, the Data and the Protected Parts), not to an open-source part taken on its own from its authors.
13.3 The main open-source parts. The app includes, among others:
| Part | What it does in MolKraft | Licence |
|---|---|---|
| React and Radix UI | the app's screens and controls | MIT |
| Lucide | the icons | ISC |
| OpenChemLib | structure handling and the 2D editor | BSD 3-Clause |
| 3Dmol.js | the 3D view | BSD 3-Clause |
| ONNX Runtime Web | running models in the browser | MIT |
| InChI (the IUPAC InChI library, through inchi-js) | InChI and InChIKey | MIT |
| OPSIN, with dk.brics.automaton and the TeaVM class library | reading chemical names | MIT; BSD 3-Clause; Apache 2.0 |
| openclatura and parts of the RDKit, translated into MolKraft's name generator | naming structures | MIT; BSD 3-Clause |
| The CDX format constants | reading and writing CDX and CDXML files | BSD 3-Clause |
| jsPDF and svg2pdf.js | PDF export | MIT |
| UTIF | TIFF export | MIT |
| IBM Plex Sans and IBM Plex Mono; Liberation Sans | the typefaces, and the font in reaction-scheme PDFs | SIL Open Font License 1.1 |
The molkraft.com website also uses three.js and Lenis (both MIT) and the IBM Plex typefaces.
13.4 The full list and the notices. The full list of open-source parts, with their versions, copyright notices and licence texts, is at molkraft.com/legal/licences. The app also carries the same notices in the notice files served with it and lists its credits in its About dialog. If a list here and the full list differ, the full list is the right one.
13.5 Open data. Some of the Data, and some of the rules MolKraft applies, come from published sources under open licences (for example Creative Commons Attribution). We credit each such source in the app, where the licence asks for it.
13.6 PubChem and other sources. Data obtained from PubChem (United States National Library of Medicine) and other public sources is used under their terms and credited in the app where it is shown. We do not claim it as our own and do not verify it. Structures built by us and not taken from a database are marked as such in the app.
13.7 Not covered. Your own software, your browser, your operating system and the services you choose to call from the app (today, PubChem) are not part of the Software and are not licensed here.
14. Audit: Lab, campus and enterprise licences only
14.1 Who this Clause applies to. This Clause applies only to a Lab licence, a campus licence, an enterprise licence and any other licence sold to an organisation under an Order Form. It does not apply to Academic, Course, Professional, trial or beta licences, whose Seat use is checked through the Licence Server as Clause 11.5 describes.
14.2 How often, and how. At most once in any twelve months, we may ask the organisation, by written notice giving at least 30 days, to confirm in writing who holds its Seats, at which Sites, and how the Software is being used under the licence. The organisation answers with a written confirmation signed by a responsible officer, listing its Seat holders by name and email address and confirming compliance with this Licence.
14.3 We accept the confirmation. We accept the organisation's written confirmation as the answer to the audit. We make no visits, require no access to the organisation's computers, networks or systems, run no software on them and ask for no documents beyond the confirmation, unless the organisation chooses to offer them. We may compare the confirmation with our own Licence Server records and ask the organisation to explain a difference.
14.4 If more Seats are in use than were bought. The organisation buys the extra Seats, at the price then in force for its Plan, from the date of the confirmation onwards, for the rest of the licence term. There is no penalty, no back-dated charge and no interest. If the organisation prefers, it may instead remove the extra Seat holders within 30 days.
14.5 Confidentiality. What the organisation tells us in an audit is confidential, is used only to administer the licence, and is kept as the Privacy Policy says for licence records.
14.6 Nothing else. This Clause is the only audit right under this Licence. It does not reduce our rights under Clause 23 if a breach comes to light another way.
15. Results are estimates, not measured values
15.1 Estimates. Everything the Software predicts, calculates or reads, including NMR shifts, multiplets and simulated spectra, names, formulas, properties, pKa and solubility values, 3D geometries, orbitals and surfaces, reaction balances, quantities, atom economy and other green-chemistry figures, infrared band matches, and structures read from pictures, is a computational estimate produced by models, rules and heuristics. It is not a measurement, has not been peer-reviewed, and may be incomplete or wrong, including in ways that no confidence indicator in the app shows. Our NMR accuracy page says how close the NMR estimates came on measured spectra and where they are weaker.
15.2 Verify first. You must verify every Result experimentally or against authoritative references before relying on it, and you are responsible for every use you make of it. Two versions of MolKraft may give different Results for the same structure.
15.3 Not for high-risk use. The Software is not designed, validated or licensed for, and must not be used for: clinical, diagnostic or therapeutic purposes; the manufacture, quality control or release of pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics or chemicals for human or animal use; hazard assessment, process safety or emergency response; regulatory submissions; legal, patent or forensic determinations; the operation of equipment or facilities where a failure could cause death, injury, or serious damage to property or the environment; or any other use where an error in a Result could cause such harm. MolKraft gives no scientific, medical, legal or regulatory advice.
15.4 Third-party data. Data shown from PubChem or another source is theirs, as supplied, and may be wrong or out of date; we do not check it.
16. Lawful use, export control, sanctions and illegal chemistry
16.1 Lawful use. You must use the Software only for lawful study, teaching, research and professional chemistry, and in keeping with section 10 of the Terms (acceptable use), which forms part of this Licence.
16.2 Illegal chemistry. You must not use the Software, or anything it produces, to design, plan, optimise, synthesise, produce, acquire, stockpile, transfer or deploy chemical weapons or their precursors, including every chemical listed in the Schedules to the Chemical Weapons Convention; biological, radiological or nuclear weapons; controlled substances (narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their precursors and analogues) except under a licence or permit that expressly allows the work; explosives or incendiaries meant to harm; or poisons or any other substance meant to injure, kill or incapacitate a person or an animal or to harm the environment. Drawing a regulated compound, or predicting its properties, for lawful and approved research, teaching, analysis, safety, detection, medical or regulatory work is not misuse; using the Software to help make, obtain or use one for a prohibited purpose is.
16.3 The misuse check. [when the feature ships] The Software checks structures and reaction schemes, in your browser, against public lists of chemical-weapon agents and controlled substances. Simply drawing, opening or predicting a listed compound never reports anything. If a drawing matches a chemical-weapon agent, or a reaction scheme would make a chemical-weapon agent, a controlled substance or a scheduled chemical, the Software tells the Licence Server which list entry was matched, never your drawing, and the Seat may be locked until we have confirmed with you that the work is authorised (for example by a research licence, a permit, or a letter from your institution). A Seat we have cleared is marked as authorised for that work, with a scope and an end date, and is not locked again within that scope. We may report suspected illegal use to law enforcement; that is a decision by a person at Mehra Holdings, case by case, never automatic. The Privacy Policy says what is sent, who sees it and how long it is kept.
16.4 Export control and sanctions. The Software is a chemistry drawing and prediction tool, which we classify as EAR99 under the United States Export Administration Regulations. You must comply with the export-control and sanctions laws that apply to you, including India's Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, the United States Export Administration Regulations and Regulation (EU) 2021/821, and with any licence, permit, institutional approval or ethics approval your work needs. You must not use, or let anyone use, the Software in a country or territory under comprehensive sanctions by India, the United Nations, the United States, the European Union or the United Kingdom, or if you, your organisation or the end user are on a sanctions or restricted-party list of any of them. You confirm that you are not, and that you will not export, re-export or provide the Software or a Result to anyone who is.
16.5 Government users. If you use the Software for a government, its agencies or its contractors, you do so under this Licence, as commercial software licensed to the public, with the same rights and restrictions as any other customer, unless an Order Form says otherwise.
17. Personal data
The Privacy Policy at molkraft.com/privacy says what personal data we collect to run your licence, why, who sees it and how long it is kept. Your Content and your Results stay in your browser and are never collected by us. The Privacy Policy is not a term of this Licence, but you should read it; where the law requires your consent for any processing, we ask for it separately.
18. Confidentiality and feedback
18.1 Pre-release features. Features we show you before they are public (in the beta, in a preview, in an Order Form negotiation) are confidential until we release them. Do not publish screenshots, benchmarks or descriptions of them until then, as the Terms say for the beta.
18.2 What you learn about the Software. Anything you learn about the inner workings of a Protected Part, by whatever means, is our confidential information. You must not disclose or use it except as the law allows and Clause 10.2 describes.
18.3 Feedback. If you send us feedback, suggestions, bug reports or test results, we may use them to improve MolKraft without owing you anything, and we will not publish your name with them unless you agree. You keep ownership of any of Your Content you include.
19. Benchmarks and publications about MolKraft
19.1 Allowed. You may test MolKraft against measured data or other tools and publish what you find, including in papers, reviews and teaching, provided the comparison is fair and reproducible and names the MolKraft version and the date of the test. We welcome such work; it is how the NMR accuracy page came to be.
19.2 Not allowed. You may not run or publish such a test as a step in building, training or improving a competing product or model (Clause 10.1(e) and (f)), or in a way that extracts the Models (Clause 10.1(c)).
20. Term and ending
20.1 Term. A paid licence runs for the term in Schedule 1 or the Order Form from activation. The Terms say how payment, renewal, the 14-day payment grace and cancellation work for India and for other countries.
20.2 When a licence ends for any reason, the Licence Server stops issuing keys, the Models stop running in your Browsers at the next check, and you must stop using the licensed features and delete any copy of the Software, the Models or the Data in your possession, including copies in browser storage, confirming this in writing if we ask. Your Content, the Results you made before the end, and the free features stay yours and available to you.
21. Warranty
21.1 Paid Plans. We warrant that, for the paid term, the Software will perform substantially as described in the user manual when used on a supported browser and device listed at molkraft.com/requirements. If it does not, tell us at hello@molkraft.com; we will fix the problem or give you a workaround, and if we cannot do either within a reasonable time, we will refund the unused part of your paid term and end the licence. This is your only remedy for a breach of this warranty.
21.2 Everything else is "as is". As far as the law allows, we give no other warranty or condition, express or implied, including of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of Results, non-infringement, or that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or available at any particular time. Beta, trial and free use carry no warranty at all. No advice or information from us creates a warranty.
21.3 Not fault-tolerant. The Software is not fault-tolerant and is not designed for the high-risk uses in Clause 15.3.
21.4 Infringement claims (business customers). If a third party claims that the Software, as supplied by us and used as this Licence allows, infringes its intellectual property, tell us promptly and let us handle the matter. We may, at our choice, change or replace the Software so that it does not infringe, obtain a licence for you, or end the licence and refund the unused part of your paid term. This is our whole responsibility for such a claim, and our total liability for it is capped at a refund of the unused part of your paid term. It does not cover Your Content, third-party data you import, use in breach of this Licence, or combinations with things we did not supply.
22. Limits on our liability
22.1 As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss; loss of profit, revenue, business, data, research time or goodwill; the cost of substitute products or services; or any loss caused by relying on a Result (Clause 15).
22.2 As far as the law allows, our total liability to you and your organisation for everything arising out of this Licence and the Software, in contract, tort (including negligence), under statute or otherwise, is limited to the amount you paid us for the Software in the 12 months before the claim, or ₹1,000 if you paid nothing (beta, trial or free use).
22.3 Known issues. When an error in a MolKraft prediction is reported to us and we verify it, we fix it or publish it as a known issue in What's new, in the app, until it is fixed. Once an error has been published there or fixed in a release, no liability arises from that known issue for use of the Software after the publication or the fix. Any compensation for a newly reported and verified error is paid only to the person who first reported it to us, within the limit in Clause 22.2 and only for loss shown to result from the error. Clause 15 still applies: every Result must be verified before you rely on it.
22.4 Nothing in this Licence limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not let us limit.
22.5 Your responsibility to us. If you use the Software in breach of this Licence or the law, you will compensate us for the losses, costs and reasonable legal fees that result, as far as the law allows, including the cost of tracing and recovering a leaked copy of a Model. If you are a consumer, this applies only to losses caused by your intentional or negligent breach.
23. Suspension, ending for breach, and remedies
23.1 Suspension. We may suspend a Seat, a Browser or a licence, with notice where practical, while we investigate a suspected breach of Clause 9, 10, 11 or 16, a payment failure, or a risk to the Models or the service. A suspension is lifted when the matter is resolved; where we were wrong we restore access and, for a paid Plan, extend the term by the time lost.
23.2 Ending for breach. If we reasonably determine that this Licence has been breached in connection with your licence, Seat or Browser, we may end the licence. A knowing or reckless breach of Clause 10 or 11 may also end any other licence you or your organisation holds. We will tell you the reason by email unless the law prevents it or notice would defeat the purpose. A licence ended for breach is not refunded.
23.3 Court orders. A breach of Clause 10 or 11 may cause us harm that money cannot repair. You agree that we may ask any competent court for an injunction or other order to stop or prevent such a breach, in addition to damages, without having to prove that money would not be enough.
23.4 Losses. You cover the losses the breach causes us, within Clause 22.5.
23.5 Proportion. For other breaches we act proportionately: a warning, a suspension with a chance to explain, or ending the licence, depending on the harm, as the Terms say.
24. Consumers: India, the European Union and the United Kingdom
24.1 India. Nothing in this Licence limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, including the right to complain to our Grievance Officer and to a consumer commission.
24.2 European Union and United Kingdom. If you are a consumer living in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have mandatory rights under your home country's law, including rights about digital content that is not as described, and the right to bring or defend a claim in the courts of your home country. Nothing in this Licence, including Clauses 21, 22 and 25, takes those rights away; where a Clause would, it applies only as far as the law allows.
24.3 Everyone. Wherever you live, if a law gives you a right that this Licence does not, and that right cannot be excluded by agreement, that right applies.
25. Governing law and disputes
25.1 This Licence is governed by the laws of India.
25.2 Talk to us first. Before starting any formal proceeding, write to hello@molkraft.com and give us 30 days to resolve the matter. Our Grievance Officer (Clause 28) handles complaints under Indian law.
25.3 Courts. Subject to the two paragraphs below, the courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Licence or the Software.
25.4 Business customers: arbitration. If you are not a consumer (for example a company, laboratory, university or other organisation, or a person buying for a business), any dispute that is not settled by talking to us is referred to and finally resolved by arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, by a sole arbitrator appointed by agreement between the parties or, failing agreement within 30 days of a written request, as that Act provides. The seat and venue of the arbitration is Mumbai, the language English, and the award final and binding. The courts at Mumbai have exclusive jurisdiction to grant interim relief and for every matter that the Act reserves to a court.
25.5 Consumers. Clause 24 applies, and nothing in this Clause takes away a consumer's right to a consumer forum or commission in India or to the courts of their home country in the European Union or the United Kingdom.
25.6 Urgent relief. Either party may apply to any competent court, anywhere, for urgent relief to protect intellectual property or confidential information.
26. Order of precedence and general terms
26.1 Which document wins. The documents that govern your use of MolKraft are, in this order: (1) an Order Form signed or confirmed by us; (2) this Licence; (3) the Terms of Service; (4) the Privacy Policy, which describes our handling of personal data and is read with them. Where two differ on the same point, the higher one prevails for that point. Open-source licences prevail for the parts they cover (Clause 13.2).
26.2 Whole agreement. This Licence, the Terms and any Order Form are the whole agreement between you and us about the Software and replace every earlier discussion. Neither of us relies on anything not written in them, but nothing excludes liability for fraud.
26.3 Severability. If a part of this Licence is found invalid or unenforceable, it applies as far as the law allows and the rest continues in force.
26.4 No waiver. If we do not enforce a Clause at once, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
26.5 Assignment. You may not transfer this Licence or any right under it without our written consent, except as Clause 6 allows. We may transfer it to a company that takes over the MolKraft business, and will tell you if we do.
26.6 Notices. We send notices to the email address on your account or Order Form, and a notice sent there counts as delivered. You send notices to hello@molkraft.com or to our postal address in Clause 28.
26.7 Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for a failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, including outages at our hosting or payment providers, but we will do what we reasonably can to restore the service.
26.8 Electronic agreement. Your acceptance in the app, by email or at checkout, and our electronic records of it, are valid under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and similar laws, and you agree to them.
26.9 No third-party rights. Nobody other than you, your organisation and us has any right under this Licence, except our licensors as to their parts.
26.10 Language. This Licence is written in English, as used in India (British spelling). Where it is translated, the English version prevails.
26.11 Survival. Clauses 3.2, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 18, 20.2, 21.2, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 continue after this Licence ends.
27. Changes to this Licence, version and date
27.1 Version. This is Version 1.0 of the MolKraft Licence, dated 24 October 2026. The version and date are shown at the top of the page, and in the app's About dialog [when the feature ships].
27.2 Changes. We may change this Licence. The version number and date change when we do, and earlier versions stay available at molkraft.com/licence. For a material change we give at least 14 days' notice by email or in the app, unless the change is required by law or needed for security. If you keep using the Software after the change takes effect, you accept it; when the app's agreement step names this Licence, it asks you to accept the new version before you continue [when the feature ships]. A change does not reduce the Seats, term or core features of a licence you have already paid for; if a change materially reduces what you paid for, you may end the licence and have the unused part refunded, as the Terms say.
