Why it exists
Every website has a page for addresses that lead nowhere. Most of them say "Page not found" and leave it there. MolKraft is a canvas for chemistry, so ours needed an element.
The MolKraft team, led by Mukul Mehra, discovered “Notfoundium” on the site's 404 page in 2026: a tile from a periodic table that does not exist, for a page that does not exist. It decays the moment you look at it, and yet there it is, on your screen, looking back. Quantum physicists have spent a century on less.
Physics has Schrödinger's cat, sealed in a box and both alive and dead until someone looks. Chemistry had nothing to match it. “Notfoundium” is our equivalent: every link is a closed box, and the page behind it both exists and does not until you click. Open it, and either your page is there, or “Notfoundium” is.
It also does a job. A lost visitor gets a smile and a list of pages that are still here, instead of a dead end.
